U4GM How to Find the Best Silent Chests in Diablo 4 S12 (5 views)

For a lot of players, Silent Chests used to be the thing you ignored while rushing toward bosses, Whispers, or better farming routes. That's changed in Season 12. With the loot buffs from earlier seasons still doing work, these locked chests are actually worth the stop, especially if you're already out hunting Diablo 4 Items and don't want to leave easy drops behind. The first thing you should do is simple: buy Whispering Keys before you head out. The Purveyor of Curiosities sells them for 20 Murmuring Obols each, and it's smart to carry a small stack so you're not standing next to a chest with nothing to open it.

If you want a fast, low-effort loop, start in Fractured Peaks. It's still one of the easiest places to sweep because the terrain is familiar and the ride lines are pretty clean once you know them. Gale Valley is usually the quickest check. You can ride through the southern pass, swing wide, and spot a chest without burning too much time. Frigid Expanse is decent too, though the chest can sit awkwardly near ledges and broken paths. Desolate Highlands works in the same way. It's not a guaranteed hit, but it's reliable enough that I still include it when I've only got a short session and don't feel like gambling on a longer route.

The one place that keeps coming up this season is Dry Steppes, especially the rocky rise just north of the Bears Tribe Refuge waypoint. People have been checking that hill on repeat for a reason. It's one of those spots that seems to produce far more often than it should. You do have to pay attention, though. It's easy to drift past it if you stay mounted and cut too close to the main trail. Slow down a touch, loop around the rock, and you'll see why so many players keep starting there. If you're building a quick route, this should be stop number one, not the backup plan.

If Fractured Peaks and Dry Steppes come up empty, head west and south. Kehjistan can still pay off, mainly around Scouring Sands, but you've got to look carefully because the chest glow doesn't stand out much against the ground. Hawezar is easier in a different way. Fethis Wetlands is rarely crowded, so untouched chests can sit there longer than you'd expect. That makes it a nice cleanup zone after the more popular areas. A lot of players skip it because the layout feels messy, but if you follow the waterways and don't rush, you'll cover the useful parts without wasting much time.

If a Helltide is live, I'd drop the normal route and go there instead. Riding the outer edge of the zone, the old “kiss the wall” trick, still works because Silent Chests tend to show up along the perimeter more often than people think. You're farming Cinders at the same time, so the whole run feels more efficient. For a short session, I'd check Bears Tribe Refuge first, then Gale Valley, then Fethis if nothing pops. But when Helltide is up, stick to the border, keep a few keys ready, and let the extra loot come to you. It's one of the easiest ways to build value over time, especially for players who are always on the lookout for cheap Diablo 4 Items while grinding their usual content.
